Why Your SaaS Isn’t Showing Up in AI Answers

When you’re missing from AI answers, the cause is usually one of five things: blocked access, pages not indexed, facts not written down, too few mentions elsewhere, or outdated information. Each has a different fix.

Why isn’t my SaaS showing up in AI answers?

A B2B SaaS company is usually missing from AI answers because a search crawler is blocked, key pages aren’t indexed, the facts a prompt needs aren’t on any page, too few other sites mention it, or the web describes an older version of the product. Diagnose which one before rewriting anything.

How do you diagnose the cause?

Diagnose it in order, starting with the causes that block everything. Check access and indexing first, then whether the needed facts exist, then mentions elsewhere, then accuracy. Each check takes minutes and rules out a whole class of fixes.

What does a fix look like?

A fix removes the reason an answer couldn’t use you. In the mock-up below, a vendor was missing from a shortlist prompt because its pricing sat behind a sales form and its review profile listed a plan retired a year ago. After both were fixed, a later run named it and cited the pricing page.

Which customer onboarding tools suit a SaaS company with 200 customers and one CS manager?

Good fits at that size include Tailspin Onboard and Litware Success 1. Northwind Launch offers a Starter plan at $400 a month for up to 250 customers, with in-app checklists included 2.

What if answers describe you wrongly?

If answers describe you wrongly, find where the wrong fact comes from by checking the cited sources, then correct it at the source: your own old pages, review profiles, partner listings, press articles. Publish the correct fact clearly on your site with a date. Some assistants also offer feedback buttons on answers; use them, but fix the sources first.

Founder rule

Fix the cause, not the symptom.

Rewriting your homepage won’t help if a bot is blocked, and allowing a bot won’t help if your price isn’t written down anywhere.

How long before fixes show up?

Access fixes can show within days: OpenAI says robots.txt changes take about 24 hours to register. Page and fact changes appear once pages are recrawled, often within weeks. New mentions and reviews take months. Re-run your prompt sample monthly and compare against the same prompts.

The prompt sample is on measuring AI search visibility. Crawler rules are on AI crawlers, robots.txt and llms.txt.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t ChatGPT mention my company?

Common causes are a blocked OAI-SearchBot, pages not indexed, facts not stated on your site, or too few mentions on other sites.

How do I fix wrong information about my company in AI answers?

Check the cited sources, correct the wrong fact where it’s published, and state the right fact clearly and dated on your own site.

Can I ask ChatGPT or Google to change an answer?

Some assistants offer feedback on answers, but fixing the sources they cite is what changes future answers.

How long until I appear in AI answers?

Access fixes can register within about a day; content changes after recrawl; new mentions over months.

Why am I in Perplexity but not ChatGPT?

Each platform uses its own crawler and index. Check that each search bot is allowed and that your pages are indexed in Bing and Google.

Does paying for ads help me appear in AI answers?

No. Ads are shown separately from the organic answer and don’t change what it says or cites.
